The Jamet family currently owns 20 hectares of vineyards, of which 9.5 are located in Côte-Rôtie. Arguably the appellations finest exponent, Jamet's work with Syrah casts real influence in the world of wine, as here in the Cape via the likes of Porseleinberg and Boschkloof.
Top producers thrive in challenging conditions, and the 2021 vintage certainly brought it. Attentive viticultural techniques were required through the year, with yields critically low. Still, Jamet have produced one of the finest Syrah's of the appellation, with haunting varietal aromas. On the palate, plenty of power yet there is an appealing freshness and lithe tannin structure in youth. All the hallmarks to lay well, if you can resist it.
The Côte-Rôtie 2021 is available as a three pack, to include 2x Côte-Rôtie 2021 and 1x Jamet Condrieu 2022.
The Condrieu is now fermented and matured entirely in clay amphorae. It's a smart compromise, producing a chiselled and fresh expression of Viognier. Bright fruit, pithy tension and delicious.
