This vintage is quite strict and slightly ferrous on the nose, gradually opening with redcurrant and cranberry fruit, touches of orange blossom and pain d'épices. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, lightly spiced with white pepper and cumin. Modest depth, it feels nicely focused with a persistent saline finish. Le Rognet et Corton is located in the village of Ladoix. The highest part of the land is often used for white wines that are called Corton-Charlemagne while the heart of the hill, located between 275m and 285m above sea level, has a well-draining soil of reddish clay loaded with iron oxide. to the cultivation of Pinot Noir. All grapes are destemmed before spending 7 days in a cold soak with minimal pumpovers. Fermentation occurs naturally with indigenous yeasts before the grapes are pressed. Ageing is between 12 to 14 months on fine lees and no racking, with Grand Cru wines seeing 40% new oak. ABV 13.5%
