We first came across "Les Quatre Terres" during a gathered sampling of Southern Rhone reds on a team trip to France back in 2023. The wine stood out for its outstanding value to style, delivering on a parade of pure varietal led character, and underlying elegance. Avoiding the heat that can so often mar the reds of the Southern Rhone.
We were so convinced, we asked for a whole pallet.
A stunning introduction to the dynamic of Santa Duc, produced from four vineyards within the appellation (including 2 classified as Cru).
Vineyard Parcels: Piedmont sand from the erosion of Miocene safre at Vacqueyras and Roaix. Limestone clay alluvial terraces at Séguret. Red limestone on the sandstone of the old Ouvèze terrace at Rasteau.
Ecocert-certified organic and Demeter-certified biodynamic.
A red blend of Grenache 70%, Syrah 15%, Mourvèdre 10%, Carignan & Cinsault 5%.
Average age of vines 40 years.
Matured for 18 months in 36-hectoliter oak Stockinger foudres, and 8-hectoliter terracotta amphorae. Unfined and unfiltered at bottling.
The wines from these parcels have lovely floral aromas, notes of red and black fruit and garrigue, with a pure, elegant tannic structure.
Enjoy!
