Bursting with aromas of red berries, candied peel, peony and rose petal, this wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a deep, layered core, excellent volume and amplitude and a chassis of fine-grained, chalky tannins that only makes itself felt on the fragrant finish. The Lachaux's 0.7 hectare accounts for a large chunk of this tiny vineyard, with Maison Joseph Drouhin owning almost all of the remaining acreage. In the cellar, the destemmed grapes are gently placed in the vat without crushing to maintain the integrity of the berries. Cold pre-fermentation occurs for a period of 3 days to a week. The wine undergoes 100% malolactic fermentation and is aged with 70% in cask and 30% in new oak. ABV 14%
