Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru 'Au Vignerais'

Premier Cru classifications were awarded to Pouilly-Fuissé from the 2020 vintage, with a total of 22 climats. Historically, the first in the Mâconnais region.

'Au Vignerais' was among the named vineyards to receive the classification, and it's rather special, from a 0.38ha plot under Paquet. The vines are located on the southern flank of the Roche de solutré at 300 meters altitude, on clay-limestone soils, predominantly stony and shallow. It shows a focus, clarity and saline edge not often encountered in the Mâconnais region, whilst retaining characterful richness and a hint of florals. Outstanding value to style.

Brothers Camille and Mathieu Paquet have converted to biodynamic viticulture and are among the champions of the appellation, adapting methods of pruning and trellising. The profile of Pouilly-Fuissé is increasingly revered, whilst their bottlings of Saint-Véran should be on every Burgundy enthusiasts radar.
