Samuel Collection Roussanne

100% Roussanne. Straw green in colour. Aromas reminiscent of walking through wild flowers; camomile, lavender and wild rose. A silky yet defined wine, white fleshed peach, vanilla custard and cumquat layered over fresh grapefruit acidity and a fine almond meal texture with lingering hints on honeycomb. The Roussanne is sourced predominantly froma single vineyard in the Eden Valley region. Situated adjacent to the Yalumba winery on the outskirts of Angaston, the vineyard is nestled near our great Viognier vineyard. Two consecutive dry winters in Eden Valley and warm, windy weather during spring led to below average crops. Warm, dry December days gave way to a sudden rainburst and milder temperatures in January to create perfect ripening conditions for retaining high levels of natural acidity, lovely texture and flavour intensity. Fermented & matured for 10 1/2 months in older French oak barriques. ABV 13.5%
