Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru

The 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru was very closed on the nose despite encouragement. This feels very introverted. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, more expressive here in the mouth than on the nose with black pepper, bay leaf and clove towards the finish. Give this a few years in bottle and wait for the aromatics to blossom. The vines are planted in Chambertinn Grand Cru. All grapes are destemmed before spending 7 days in a cold soak with minimal pumpovers. Fermentation occurs naturally with indigenous yeasts before the grapes are pressed. ABV 13.5%
