Vineyard plantings in England have more than doubled over the last decade. Investment and experimentation is rife. World class sparkling wines dominate production, but on the still wines, it's no longer limited to unusual hybrid varietals.
Chardonnay particularly, is becoming a star grape, whilst good vintages can yield beautifully fragrant, racy and exciting Pinot Noir. Clonal material from Burgundy is increasingly favoured for suitable sites in the temperate south and east.
Whilst vignerons of Europe battle for acidity in a warming climate, the vineyards of southern England seek sites to ripen.
It's a region to watch, and we're delighted to represent two producers, both with urban wineries in London, producing ltd batch wines, and pushing the narrative.
