The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, includes 30% whole bunch from the north part of the appellation. It has a well-defined bouquet with floral, rose-petal scents permeating the red berry fruit. The palate is medium bodied with fresh black cherry and bilberry notes, a nice touch of salinity towards the finish. Delightful. Enjoy this over the next five to eight years. The parcel is right next to Mazis-Chambertin and Eyre sees some similarities to the Mazis fruit she used to have at Domaine Newman. The small parcels of low-yielding fruit were hand harvested and partially de-stemmed, with 20% being whole-bunch pressed. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts took place in stainless steel tanks where a combination of gentle pump overs and punch downs were employed as necessary. The wine was matured in 100% French oak barriques, 17% of which were new. The wine was racked once to tank before bottling unfined and unfiltered during the first week of December. ABV 13%
