The set of single vineyard bottlings under progressive Champagne producer Pierre Gerbais, are a brilliant demonstration of what gets us excited about the Grower category.
La Loge is made from a single site of Pinot Blanc of 84 years age, one of the eldest vineyards in Champagne and a varietal Gerbais have long championed and built recognition for.Β
One of the permitted, but rarer Champagne varietals, Pinot Blanc does particularly well in the Celles-sur-Ource for it's ability to lend raciness and texture, whilst suiting the relative humidity here at the confluence of rivers. The vineyard sits on a plateau of limestone rich soil.
Blended from a solera reserve started in 2011 and spending 36 months on the fine lees ahead of disgorge. Distinctly natural in feel, with minimal addition of sulphur at bottling.
