Mercurey Clos du Roi 1er Cru

The 'Clos du Roi' is a premier classified climat of Pinot Noir, split into 4 plots planted between 1970 and 2002. One of the top Pinot Noir bottlings of Chamirey, planted on dark-brown soils, with a south and south-west exposition.

Vinification is gentle, with maturation in French oak barriques for 10 months (25% new). It's the most forthright and dense of the Chamirey reds, led by vivid black and red cherry and spicy notes. Best approached five years from vintage.
