The 2016 Poujeaux impresses with its well-defined bouquet, showcasing blackberry, briary, and cigar box aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers grainy tannins and notable depth, with a smoky character and a solid structure. The finish is pepper-tinged and displays good depth. Situated on the prestigious Grand Poujeaux slopes, Château Poujeaux boasts a substantial vineyard spanning 70 hectares. The terroir is characterized by a predominance of quaternary gravel soils, which contribute to the unique character of the wines produced here. The vineyard is carefully planted with a blend of grape varieties, consisting of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. With an average vine age of 30 years, Château Poujeaux benefits from the maturity and depth that comes with established vines. The grapes are carefully sorted and processed in separate batches based on vine age, vineyard location, and grape variety. After fermentation in vat, the wine ages for 12 months in French oak barrels. ABV 13.5%
