The Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru comes from two lieux-dits in the south of Solutré. The parcels are too small to bottle individually, but regardless Paquet finds the blend of the two better.

Premier Cru classifications were awarded to Pouilly-Fuissé from the 2020 vintage, with a total of 22 climats. Historically, the first in the Mâconnais region.

Brothers Camille and Mathieu Paquet have converted to biodynamic viticulture and are among the champions of the appellation, adapting methods of pruning and trellising. The profile of Pouilly-Fuissé is increasingly revered, whilst their bottlings of Saint-Véran should be on every Burgundy enthusiasts radar.

Vineyard: The Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru comes from two lieux-dits in the south of Solutré. The parcels are too small to bottle individually, but regardless Paquet finds the blend of the two better.

Planted: 1958 and 1980
Soils: : Clay-Limestone, Silty-clay, rich in iron.
Vinification: Natural fermentation. The wine is then aged in barrels (20% new) for 14 months, followed by 6 months in tanks.

Tasting note:
The nose, with its rich aromas, combines floral notes so typical of the appellation, with hints of citrus, white peach, and apricot. The palate is generous, with a silky, deep attack and a beautiful tension that culminates in a chalky minerality on the finish.
