Chopin’s original family vineyard was established by his great-grandfather, with a core of the vineyard today planted in 1905 and painstakingly rehabilitated under Raphaël. Whilst humbly labeled as a Beaujolais-Villages, Lantignié is seeking to become the 11th Cru of Beaujolais.

The Beaujolais-Lantignié features bluestone soils like those of the Côte de Brouilly or the Côte du Py on the western side, and more granitic sand and pink granite on the eastern side, very similar to Chiroubles. These singularities differentiate the terroir from the generic label of Beaujolais-Villages.

‘An organic island of viticulture’
Of real interest, is the vigneron association of Lantignié. Should the appellation become a classified Cru, it will be made up of 100% organic certified producers. A first in the world of wine.
