Saint-Véran 'Les Cras'

Saint-Véran of the Mâconnais might be overshadowed by the arrival of premier cru classifications in 2020 to its neighbour of Pouilly-Fuissé, but there is equal excitement here among Burgundy insiders. 

Under the reins of producers like Paquet, set about championing the village Saint-Véran, there is outstanding value to style to be discovered among a Burgundy context.

The lieu-dit (named place) of 'Les Cras' is fine example. From an old vineyard of Chardonnay, it is layered, vibrant and chiseled, and would compare favourably with Burgundy whites well above this price tier.

Brothers Camille and Mathieu Paquet have converted to biodynamic viticulture and are among the leading lights of the appellation. Their bottlings of Saint-Véran should be on every Burgundy enthusiasts radar.
