Santa Barbara County PS Syrah

The ‘PS’ Syrah by Piedrasassi is sourced from three notable single vineyard sites within Santa Barbara County; John Sebastiano (Sta. Rita Hills AVA), Rim Rock Vineyard (Arroyo Grande AVA) and Bien Nacido (Santa Maria Valley AVA).

In the vineyard, Piedrasassi pick a little earlier than their peers, to best express balance between alcohol levels and flavour, whilst preserving natural acidity.

The wines are fermented via indigenous yeast, with a little whole-cluster according to vintage. The wine is matured in neutral 500L oak barrels. Minimal sulphur is added to the wine only at bottling.

This is delicious. Bright and inviting on the nose, with black and red fruit, gentle spice and a little mint. On the palate, real depth and clarity at a restained 12.5% vol, with a gently savoury tug on the finish.
