Aurélien Laherte’s Rosé de Meunier Extra Brut NV is a Champagne crafted from 100% Pinot Meunier, sourced from Côteaux Sud d'Épernay and Vallée De La Marne, where it is grown ecologically on limestone and chalky soils. The base wine consists of 60% direct-pressed white wine, 30% maceration (with destemmed fruit briefly left in contact with the skins), and 10% red wine, all fermented and matured in large format foudres and oak barrels for 8 months ahead of secondary fermentation in bottle, where it spends a minimum of 2 years on the fine lees ahead of disgorgement. 50% of the wine is from the base vintage, with 50% from the reserve.
A bit of a geek fest, with outstanding results for both colour and taste. Bottled with a low dosage of 2.5g/l (Extra Brut).
Soaring aromatics of pomegranate, orange zest, rocks of crushed flowers, before a super expressive palate both concentrated and racy. An intellectual Champagne, and difficult to put down.
