Château de la Chaize

Nestled on the slopes of Mont Brouilly, Château de La Chaize is among the most spectacular estates in all France. It spent three centuries under the same ownership, before being acquired by the Christophe Gruy and his family in 2017. They set about implementing a highly ambitious project of restoration and environmental sustainability. The estate has converted to organic farming and aim to achieve biodynamic certification and carbon neutrality. It makes for a fascinating visit and one that does not feel centred around ego, but as a model for viticulture and wine production. Head of Viticulture and Winemaking is Boris Gruy, the nephew of Christophe Gruy, with the resulting wines making strides year on year. This is a name to watch.
