Domaine Thillardon
A flagbearer for the merits of biodynamic viticulture and low intervention winemaking, Domaine Thillardon are a recent arrival to our portfolio. They’re based in Chénas, one of the smaller Cru of Beaujolais offering up expressions of structure and cellar worthy Gamay. They tend to a total of 12ha, predominantly Chénas, with a little Moulin à Vent and Beaujolais. The domaine and initial vineyard (4ha of 80-100 year old vines) was founded by Henri-Paul Thillardon in 2008, later joined by his brother Charles in 2014. A relatively young domaine, and among the most exciting of the latest generation. The wines show the raw appeal of Gamay – dense, expressive and inviting, underpinned by deftly managed, fine-grained tannins.
