Jolie-Laide

Jolie-Laide (translating to ‘pretty ugly’, a term of endearment to describe unconventional beauty) was founded in 2010 and is the solo project of Scott & Jenny Schultz, who produce a range of exciting & super ltd varietal bottlings. The labels change annually and feature the work of one artist across each release. Scott continues to work with Pax Mahle of Wind Gap, one of America’s most celebrated new wave producers, & early champion of refreshment in Californian wine. He was a keynote speaker & led a tasting of the Wind Gap wines at the Swartland Revolution back in 2015.

The Jolie-Laide Gamay is sourced from the Barsotti Vineyard, planted at 850m above sea level, in the El Dorado AVA of the Sierra Mountains. Vineyards here were established in 2005, including some of the first Gamay vines in California. A winning combination of Gamay on granite, organically farmed & at altitude.
