Vignobles Levet

An exciting new addition to our Northern Rhone offering in Vignobles Levet, a producer who has quietly developing a dedicated following across the world for their uncompromising and traditional Syrah bottlings in the Côte-Rôtie.

The family have owned vineyards here since 1936, but it was in 1983 under Bernard Levet, that production shifted to their own label wines. They own 3.5ha of the tiny Côte-Rôtie appellation, spread among 6 lieu-dit, steeply faced on the famed rocky terraces and among the best of the Côte-Brune and Côte-Blonde. Bernard’s daughter, Agnes Levet has been at the helm since 2004. 

The wines are fresh, varietally expressive and hauntingly elegant, which is what Côte-Rôtie should be all about. They have a reputation for being tremendously long-lived, so be sure to decant for a couple of hours if drinking these in their youth, to soften and open up the perfume of the wine.
