Unwinding in the glass with notes of plums, raspberries and spices, the 2019 Côte de Brouilly Brûlhier is medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with tangy acids, fine tannins and a long, delicately perfumed finish. Derived from a southeast facing site characterized by blue rock, this is the most youthfully reserved wine in the range but also the most promising for the long haul. Single parcel cuvée, from one of the 4 vineyard sites belonging to Château de La Chaize estate within the Côte de Brouilly appellation. The vineyard site of Côte de Brouilly, called “Brûlhier” grows on the south facing slope of Mont Brouilly. The soil is on a shallow bed of diorite, also called “blue stone”. Its grapevines are planted at between 400 and 425 meters of altitude, facing full south with an average gradient of 28%. 100% in large wooden vats (foudres). Vinification: parcel based, 10% whole clusters, 90% destemmed, pump overs and punch down Type of yeast: natural Duration of vatting: 14 days. ABV 14.5%
